Success Story - Mid-Ohio Foodbank

Distribution Center, Corporate Offices, and Parking Lot are Secure

The Operation Feed Foodbank first opened its doors 1980, distributing 205,200 pounds of food in the first year. Today, 39 years later, the Mid-Ohio Foodbank distributes over 66 million pounds of food annually, providing over 140,000 meals every day. With a 204,000sq. ft. distribution center, Mid-Ohio Foodbank has a lot to keep track of. That’s why they called Security Cameras of Columbus.

The distribution center had an existing security camera system of 40 cameras, all using Coaxial Cabling. With a system upgrade, Mid-Ohio Foodbank needed coverage of the distribution center, corporate office space, and the large parking lot surrounding the building. With the help of a Security Cameras of Columbus Salesperson, it was determined that we could replace most of the existing cameras with 5MP Ultra-HD CVI Security Cameras. The CVI cameras use the existing coaxial cabling already in place, saving the foodbank thousands of dollars!

There was a need, however, for cameras in new locations. The foodbank has installed several cooler-warehouses to store refrigerated and frozen foods. We determined that the Uniview IP Turret Camera would be the best fit for the job. These Uniview IP Cameras are state-of-the-art technology, and the Cat5e cabling can continue to be used years into the future when new camera technology arrives.
Three Uniview 16 channel DVR’s were installed to record and distribute camera footage to key users. Uniview DVR’s can handle both the old technology (CVI Cameras) and the new technology (IP Cameras). Users can view cameras from their phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop all with one simple log-in. Our customers rave about how easy the phone and computer apps are to use!
